Jacking Her Up To Paint The Bottom

We spent a lot of time this week . . . working on Gypsy Rose.
She is getting prettier every day.

Today I built these wooden boxes and reinforced beams
so we could jack her up off the trailer.

I wanted to get her jacked up enough to attach a new cable to her keel,
but we couldn't jack her up quite high enough and still feel safe.
So, I'm going through the cabin to attach it.

We did get started painting the bottom.
After scraping the keel to remove barnacles and rust,
from her days in salt water.

Well, it doesn't look like we'll have her in the water by the first of June . . .
but we are still optimistic about sailing before the end of the month.
For all my followers that are watching her progress,
I just want to say thank you.
It is nice being able to share this project with you,
and I enjoy reading your comments.

Have a great weekend . . .
I think that we are going to check out the new Star Trek Movie.
I've been a Star Trek fan since the first TV shows.
My sister and I used to watch then together as kids :)

  2. She is looking beautiful. Do you put mustard or chilli powder in your anti-foul? X

    2. Actually that was serious, an old trick for keeping the barnacles off longer, use chilli or mustard powder in the anti foul. I know it sounds really strange, but would you like to chomp in to some strong chilli if you were a barnacle!!!! Xxxx

  5. She's looking fantastic! I've enjoyed watching y'all take a diamond in the rough, something others would have slated for the junk yard, and bringing out her beauty once again.

  15. What a beautiful vessel, and I think that your hard work will be rewarded... All in the water will turn heads to get a glimpse of her.

I had a 22-ft sailboat and scraped barnacles once... not easy!

  16. Its interesting for me to see this wonderful managing boat in all ways. I don't think so there is any need to which can make it better. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful post with us.http://marinerswarehouse.com/400-Series-Outboards

  18. It looks like a tough job jacking her up just to repaint her. Well, it looks like the sprucing up job is going well and I’m sure she’ll look amazing once she hits the waters. We can’t have her looking sorry so you should really take time in sprucing her up. Good job!
