Hi, so nice to hear from you. She got me into blogging awhile back and I have to say I really am enjoying all you people in blogland. We will be posting photos of us sailing Gypsy Rose at some point. Thanks for following my blog.
DeleteSteve
I have been drooling over your woodworking projects and your outdoor kitchen! Can't wait to see the results of Gypsy Rose's transformation...and a couple project, no less! Now how do I get my hubby to play dolls with me? LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteHi there and thank you for following my blog. We don't always work and play well with each other but most of the time we really have fun.
DeleteHello Steve.
ReplyDeleteI have come over from Connies blog..
As a retired sailor.. and a love for the ocean.. I am excited for both of you with your new project.
She looks in pretty good repair... some of your hard elbow work and TLC.. 'Gypsy Rose' will look just lovely.
What type of a yacht is she.. ?
I will be watching out for your weekly updates on your work. Yachts become a 'vice'..but a good 'vice'
We still have 2 in the family..
Happy working..
Also wishing you and Connie a very happy 37th wedding Anniversary.. She is a lovely person and always writes such nice comments to me.
another new follower.
val
Hi Val, so nice to hear from you. She is a sound boat with no rot to repair. On the inside she is pristine without a hint of water damage of any kind. She is a Glen-L design and was built in the mid 80s. The model is called Fancy free.
DeleteThank you for following my blog.
Steve
The two of you will make her gorgeous!!!! Happy anniversary, I come from Connie's blog.
ReplyDeleteHi Ginny, thank you for following my blog. So nice to hear from you.
DeleteSteve, I have been following Connie for quite awhile and until today I did not know she was hiding a very talented husband! Congratulations on your anniversary. I am now a follower on GFC. Connie made me come over to look and I did and I love your blog. I think my favorite is the alligator whirl-a-gig. But the outdoor kitchen is really beyond my dreams. I am looking forward to Gypsy Rose's transformation!
ReplyDeleteHi Donna, thank you for the nice comments and for following my blog. From whirligigs to sailboats and everything in between, Connie and I love life, have fun and love the Lord and each other. We will make Gypsy Rose a thing of beauty as she once was.

DeleteSteve, you must be retired if you plan on having her ready by June! I read that your dear Connie has already named her "Gypsy Rose", and I look forward to the maiden voyage. I am your newest follower and you can thank Connie for directing me here. My husband is a shop teacher, so I plan to show him your woodworking. I love what you have done in your outdoor kitchen! Happy Anniversary!
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie, not retired, it's just that Connie works me like a rented mule. LOL! Thanks so much for your comments and for following my blog. Hope hubby enjoys looking at my woodworking.
DeleteThaaaar sheeee bloooows!
ReplyDeleteHey there Captain Steve! Actually I asked Connie if you are a sailor or a captain. Either way, your Gypsy Rose is going to be gorgeous. She already is. She has good bones. Love her. I actually love the blue/green color of her too. Happy Anniversary to you both and enjoy working on your boat. My Shug and I learned early on, we do not work well together! We work well....just not together. (he's a grouch when he works with me!)

DeleteI am going to have my hubby keep tabs on your blog now. He has boated his whole life and sold boats for a few years. We LOVE the old ones and are always checking them out here and there. He is NOT very handy though so what I can't do he has to hire done. This one you are working on is a BIG job...and I can't wait to see it come to fruition. Love your sweet wife that sent me here- Diana
ReplyDeleteHey- You need to take the double word verification off. I think your wife knows how-if not let me know and I will shoot you the instructions. It keeps people from leaving a comment-

Such immense fun. I sincerely hope that you will be able to have her seaworthy by summer. I'd love to be in your drawing.
ReplyDeleteShe might not look new when we're done but she will be pretty. Thanks for following my blog.

DeleteHi Steve. Welcome to the wonderful world of blogging. Happy Anniversary. Looking forward to seeing the re-newed Gypsy rose. I am your newest follower.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, thanks for stopping by my blog and becoming a follower. We are excited to be restoring her and I was out in my wood shop not 10 minutes ago working on the main hatch. She will be a beauty!
DeleteSteve - saw your note on Ross Lillistone's blog, and backtracked you to your place. I'm a bald 60-something with two grandkids, a garage full of tools, a beard, (but only one BBQ), and plans to build a boat. So we have a little in common. I'll check back to see how the Gypsy Rose progresses.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting. I love wooden boats and will be looking forward to seeing your project. Thanks for stopping by my blog.
DeleteJust popped over from Connie's and I've joined your blog. Congrats on your Wedding Anniversary. We've just celebrated our 4th!

My dad would appreciate it, being a carpenter.
Sft x
Thank you for joining. We are very excited about restoring her.
DeleteCongratulation on your anniversary - I love the Gypsy Rose - she's definitely fallen into the right hands to be restored to glory! One day I'm going to find my husband a criss craft to restore or failing that a Humber barge - that should keep him busy!
ReplyDeleteWow, those Chris Crafts are beautiful boats. THANK YOU FOR STOPPING BY MY BLOG.
DeleteGood luck with the boat project! Living near Lake Michigan we appreciate boats, it is the perfect place for sailing. Your newest follower, Laura
ReplyDeleteHi and thanks for stopping by my blog. Connie grew up in South Bend Indiana so she's familiar with that lake. Scary weather for sailing at times but that applies anywhere. Thanks for following my blog Laura.
DeleteGypsy Rose is already shaping up! Hope that you and Connie had a wonderful anniversary.
ReplyDeleteKathy M.
Thank you Kathy, she will be a beauty when we are done.
DeleteConnie did good on picking the name, she's soo creative! Looking forward to seeing Gypsy Rose's makeover in progress. You guys are both so talented she will be a beauty ☺
ReplyDeleteHello again Kelly, we are pretty excited about this deal. I can't wait to make some more progress so we can post the photos.
DeleteNice site, and thanks for dropping by mine. On your hatch, instead of using a house paint to give the wood some protection, try epoxy. Use a slow cure for part "B" to give you some time to apply. Apply as soon as you have stirred (very liquid) and don't apply if the brush becomes stiffer, like the stuff is starting to set up. Mix small amounts. The epoxy actually soaks into the wood cell structure and alters it in such a way that it gives it very good protection from rot and water damage. With a good sand afterwards you can either apply a urethane varnish, or paint, and the wood will be better protected because of the epoxy.
ReplyDeleteHi Paul, thanks for stopping by my blog. The house paint is an undercoat but I tend to agree with you. Over the house paint I will lay cedar strips which will be covered with West System 105 epoxy resin mixed with 207 special clear hardener. I will use 6 oz fiberglass cloth so it will be a clear natural wood finish. Hopefully no water will ever reach the house painted portion of the hatch but I still say your comments are gold! Thanks again for stopping by.
DeleteWow, that's an awesome project! Can't wait to see the finished "Gypsy Rose".
ReplyDeleteThanks for the give-away!
