This was the birthday present I built for my second
granddaughter when she turned 2 years old.
Her very own kitchen.
Connie and I designed this ourselves with no plans so it is one of a kind.
The sink is an 8 inch stainless steel mixing bowl.
Check out the real faucets.
The stove burners are mahogany.
This is the refrigerator.
Like most of this project, it is made of pine.
I love working with pine wood.
It is beautiful and easy to work with.
I used dowels for the shelves so they would look more like a real refrigerator.
The dowels are made of oak.
The frames for the oven door and pan storage door are made of oak with oak handles also.
I love to mix different kinds of wood in my projects.
I wish I had taken photos of the construction of this but I was not a blogger then.
Anyway my little darling loves her birthday present.
See my Motorcycle Rocker post if you have not seen it.
Thank you for stopping by my blog. I would love to hear your comments.
Steve.
That has to be the neatest birthday gift for a little girl ever! My 16 year old still has the wooden doll cradle and highchair that her grandmother had made for her 3rd birthday. I am sure this will become a treasured heirloom as well.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for visiting my blog and for your sweet comments. Those grand kids are a goon inspiration to build cool toys for sure.
DeleteI just came over from your wife's blog...Wow this is so amazing!! My hubby made the stove one time from an old album cupboard...We both loved the motorcycle rocking horse too...my hubby is an old biker...:)
ReplyDeleteMy hubby is interested in getting a smoker so your info on them was great...
Great blog!! :)
I am an old biker as well only I let my 65 pan go back in 1999. Thanks for the nice comments on my work and for stopping by my blog.
DeleteSteve, this kitchen is truly a work of art and something your granddaughter will treasure for many, many years to come - probably something her children will enjoy, also! Looking at this reminds me of the stove my father made me when I was little, but it looked NOTHING like this. Great, great job!
ReplyDeleteI wanted to let you know that I selected you for a Sunshine Award! You can check it out here: http://365daysofbaking.blogspot.com/2012/06/smoothie-saturday-cantabananaberry.html
Keep up the great work!
Hi Lynne, thank you for all of your warm and much appreciated comments. You made my day, Steve
DeleteI love this. I hope one day I can make my little girl something like this - great idea. Looks like a lot of love and care went into building it. I love a project thats a great present but I bet you could sell this like hot cakes (no pun intended)!
ReplyDeleteHey Kev, I did put a lot of love into this and it was very special seeing Lucy's face when she received it. I don't know if I could muster up the energy to make them to sell. Making things for people I love, is what makes me happy.
DeleteHave a great day! Steve
